Keep more of what you earn.

Tax planning built into every decision

We look ahead at your income, investments, and big moves and make them tax-aware before they're locked in — so the money you keep works as hard as the money you make.

Why it matters

The costliest tax mistakes happen long before tax season

By the time your return is being prepared, most of the decisions that drive your tax bill are already made — when you sold, how you drew income, which accounts you touched, how a bonus or a business sale was structured.

A good return records what happened. Good tax planning changes what happens in the first place.

That's the seat we sit in: looking ahead at your income, investments, and big moves, and making them tax-aware before they're locked in.

What tax planning looks like here

We build the tax strategy into your plan and keep it coordinated with the professionals who execute it.

Tax-aware investing

Asset location, tax-loss harvesting, gain and loss timing, and withdrawal sequencing, so your portfolio isn't quietly generating an avoidable tax bill.

Income & withdrawal strategy

Which accounts to draw from and when, especially through retirement — Roth conversion windows, and years with unusual income where the right move isn't obvious.

Big-decision planning

The tax impact of selling a business, exercising equity, a windfall, or a major gift — we model it before you commit, so there's still room to shape the outcome.

Coordination with your CPA

We sit at the table with you so your tax strategy and filing actually line up. If you need a tax professional to help, we'll help you find the right fit.

A note on scope: King Tide provides tax planning and strategy — we don't prepare or file returns or give formal tax advice. We coordinate closely with your CPA or tax preparer so nothing falls through the gap between planning and filing.

Who it's for

  • Business owners and the self-employed, where entity structure, retirement-plan design, and income timing move the needle most.
  • Households with equity comp, a liquidity event, or a business sale on the horizon.
  • Retirees and near-retirees navigating withdrawal sequencing, Roth conversions, and RMDs.
  • Military families managing military pay, deployments, and state-of-residence rules.

Tax Planning doesn't happen in a vacuum

Your tax picture touches everything — tax strategy shapes your investment management, drives the withdrawal decisions in your retirement planning, and runs straight into legacy planning when you're moving wealth to the next generation.

Common Questions

Does King Tide prepare my taxes?

No. We handle the planning and strategy — the year-round, decision-level work that shapes your tax bill — and coordinate with your CPA or tax preparer, who files the return. If you need a preparer, we can help you find one.

How is tax planning different from tax preparation?

Preparation records what already happened; it's backward-looking and seasonal. Planning changes what happens; it's forward-looking and runs all year. You need both — they just answer different questions.

Do I have to leave my current CPA?

No — we'd rather work alongside the professionals you already trust. Coordinating with your existing CPA is the point.

When's the right time to start?

Before the decision, not after. The highest-value tax planning happens ahead of a sale, a conversion, a move, or retirement — while the outcome can still be shaped.
